Basically the introduction the catalog brings us back to the idea that we need to centralize the information about which tables own which snapshots in the same system. Without that, I think you still have a problem with clones of clones (or clones of descendents of clones.) Even with tagging you end up in situations like this Clone A -> B Clone B -> C So now I have source A which has clone B and I have Source B of Clone C Removing B doesn't mean I'm done with the files in A and A has no information about C so our logic is more complicated still --- I'm wondering if we can just get schema into branches and just have this information locally.
