Ahh, thanks for this! We actually tried fixing this error with various changes to the session timeout and heartbeat interval, but to no avail. The only thing that fixed it for us was increasing the poll duration. However your PR looks like a comprehensive overall improvement to the processing logic and should also fix the issue we are experiencing.
