@pan3793 I'll let @danielcweeks speak to his concerns himself, if he'll come back to this PR. My sense is that after he discovered that particular issue with `StructTypeInfo`, it called into question to whole Hive compatibility story. @pvary too already had concerns about the level of backward compatibility Hive 4 has. My sense therefore is that the safe approach is to build iceberg-hive-metastore against the separate Hive versions we wish to support and produce separate artifacts. Even if we handle the `StructTypeInfo` issue, it doesn't mean that there aren't other issues that just haven't manifested because our unit tests don't surface them. So I don't think our level of confidence in the compatibility of a single iceberg-hive-metastore.jar compiled against one Hive version (say 2.3.10) is that high. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
