For posterity as well, I ran into this issue because I had both:
```scala
val icebergDependencies: Seq[ModuleID] = Seq(
"org.apache.iceberg" % "iceberg-core" % Versions.icebergVersion,
"org.apache.iceberg" %% "iceberg-spark-runtime-3.5" %
Versions.icebergVersion
)
```
in my build and removing `iceberg-core` fixed the issue
