Thanks for raising this issue — it was helpful!
I’ve submitted a PR to update the Kafka Connect documentation with clearer
installation instructions, including:
• Descriptions of the two distribution zip files (with and
without Hive Metastore dependencies),
• A note that the zip archive must be extracted before use,
• Instructions to copy the extracted files into the Kafka Connect
plugin directory.
Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see improved or clarified
further.
