There are no guarantees about file layout, and I don't think it's the project's responsibility to worry about cases like this. The line of reasoning here is pretty tenuous. The reason for an older release is only for convenience bundles, so we're worrying about people unwilling to manage their library versions but have strong opinions about out-of-spec behaviors across versions?
