Just wanted to give this Issue a little bump as I did run into the same issue (iceberg 1.6 in AWS Glue 5.0). I also wanted to add: > I created a PR to block this drop here. Please take a look [#11842](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/11842) Blocking the drop seems weired. Without beeing to detailed in the innner workings of iceberg, it should be possible to drop a column even if it was a partition in the past.
