According to https://github.com/apache/iceberg/issues/767 `data_file.distinct_counts` was deprecated about four years ago. Furthermore: - PyIceberg fails to read `data_file` Avro objects containing this field, and [will not be fixed](https://github.com/apache/iceberg-python/pull/1613). - Deprecation has been [proposed and ignored](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/9680) and [proposed and rejected in favor of removal](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/8395).
