Even if you share a single client, the v2 SDK IAM credential provider on EC2 (not k8s) is unable to recover from 503 errors during is refresh, as it tries to refresh the credentials so close to expiry that it can't recover. https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-java-v2/issues/5247 If this is happening an hour after the cluster is launched, this is a possible cause.
