Thanks @rahil-c for addressing this! We typically want to avoid boolean
flags in APIs, it's one of those things that people can find hard to interpret,
and is many times an extra layer of complexity that doesn't add too much. In
this case, having the user specify the explicit snapshot they want, and
defining the API semantic as being exclusive to the first option is probably
better in terms of simplifying the API surface area. Clients have to load the
snapshots anyways so for a client to resolve the parent is not that much of a
burden.
