Hi all! Looks like this PR got stuck but I would like to continue this effort. I tried checking it out locally and rebasing but that seems to be a bit complex (main is 1100+ commits ahead now). I was thinking of splitting this up into smaller, easier to review diffs and merging them behind a feature flag. Do you think this might work? Tangential, but related to this, I am also writing a set of (simple) benchmarks to be able to argue about the performance of changes -- not sure yet how to contribute those back but we can also talk about that (the benchmarks talk to S3 so there is some infrastructure setup required). -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
