Ronald Macmaster updated HBASE-30496:
-------------------------------------
    Description:
[https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-9v8h-qqgm-4m35]

A new buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in
[CVE-2026-111497|https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-111497]
HBase might be lightly exposed through its
{{hbase-compression/hbase-compression-brotli}} module.

It seems like only tables that directly enable Brotli compression with
{{COMPRESSION => 'BROTLI'}} could be possibly affected.

We should consider upgrading brotli4j in pom.xml to at least 1.24.0, as this
was fixed recently upstream in
[hyperxpro/Brotli4j#273|https://github.com/hyperxpro/Brotli4j/pull/273]
