Melvin Schmidt created GUACAMOLE-2151:
-----------------------------------------

             Summary: Performance Issues with Guacamole Server Since Update to
Version 1.6.0
                 Key: GUACAMOLE-2151
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GUACAMOLE-2151
             Project: Guacamole
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 1.6.0
            Reporter: Melvin Schmidt
         Attachments: guac-problem1.png, guac-problem2.png

Hello,

since upgrading to V{*}ersion 1.6.0{*}, we have been experiencing significant
performance issues on our server.

It appears that the guacd processes are stacking up over time. Please refer to
the attached graph from our monitoring system. After a fresh reboot, it took
approximately *13 days* for the server to reach a *load average of 9* and
{*}CPU usage exceeding 90%{*}. This behavior is clearly visible in the graph.

Upon checking, the number of Guacamole-related processes is unusually high:
{{pstree -p | grep guac | wc -l}}
{{1290}}
This raises the question:
 * Are the {{guacd}} processes not being terminated correctly?

 * Could there be a problem with the garbage collection mechanism?

*System Information:*
 * OS: Debian 12 (Bookworm)

 * CPU: 8 cores

 * RAM: 16 GB

We would appreciate any insights regarding this issue.
Is this a *known problem* with version 1.6.0?

Best regards
