Just ran into what I believe is this same issue. No progress has happened since 
2020 on this? It is kind of useless trying to trace back connections when using 
Mysql/LDAP extensions where the users don't get created. Until I literally saw 
the user in the list and then tried searching all this time I thought the user 
connections weren't happening :/
