Jamie Mark Goodyear commented on CXF-8681:
------------------------------------------

I investigated what would be involved in returning XMLBeans to rt/databinding.

There has been a number of changes under the hood they we'd have to refactor:
 * Where the code expects generation/schemas by default
 * xmlbeans plugin behavoir diverges from the xmlbeans-maven-plugin.
 * Generated code has internal Factory instead of external Factory classes

It may be worth looking into having XMLBeans support some backwards
compatibility flags to produce a cleaner migration path.

> Since June 2018, XMLBeans is revived and has been unretired by the Apache POI
> Project, so its dataBinding could be restored in future CXF releases.
