I'd recommend not hiding information within divs. If someone is coming to your website via an iPhone they don't want the frustration of seeing only part of the site.
Wikipedia has a great approach if you are able to replicate the functionality. Remember it is about focusing on the users primary need for visiting via a mobile. Via http protocols or the handheld css screen property you may be able to do what you're after.
