Oops.  I missed this info.  Thanks for including it.

When the antialiasing checkboxes are unchecked, the platform default is used  
(these *should* reflect the settings in your OS X System Preferences).  On OS 
X, the default is to antialias both graphics and text.
As you've pointed out, this is confusing when the checkboxes do not retain the 
state you put them in.  We will see what we can do to remove some of this 
confusion.
