Hi! To be honest, I think we don’t have documentation for this, but on the other hand, you shouldn’t need it; those should behave like any module in Qt. Unfortunately, there was a small packaging-related bug, and that caused unnecessary updates in the maintenance tool. In reality, it won’t update anything else than the extension's main node/component. That will be fixed in the next releases. Sorry about that, and thanks for reporting this!

I understand the concept in principle (I think the idea of separating deployment of web engine from Qt as a whole, so you can patch issues separately, is about a decade old). For example, I noticed that I get “updates” for the extension modules in Qt maintenance tool, although I have firmly only selected their 6.8.2 versions. Is this a bug of the maintenance tool? I want to make sure I have the exact configuration locally that is also going to be deployed, so I’d like to understand how this works.
