P.S.: Just in case I checked OSX, Linux and Windows and report that the following two don't support ws://127.0.0.1:wxyz from a secure (https) site:
OSX: Safari Linux: Firefox Smartphones / tablets I have not tested yet. So - this is not a bad compromize but neither an ideal solution.
