Builds on Windows are always going to be slower due to the file system and other inefficiencies, given the same hardware and build configuration. There must be something else at play.

It seems that jom takes the cpu cores to it’s maximum power. On Mac the GCC builds are really slow and passing the -jX argument doesn’t seem to make any difference. Is there a way to speed up builds? My projects have a lot of files now and compiling a build can take around 5 minutes on a i5 2.5 dual core CPU. Any tips? Thanks!
