I ran into this a few days ago.  I believe the documentation I found said 
something along the lines of:

Proprietary codecs are not included by default for legal reasons.  When 
building Qt, you can set this preference to enable proprietary codecs:
WEBENGINE_CONFIG+=proprietary_codecs
