I've set out building Qt 5.3.2 on Kubuntu 14.04 a while a go (never finished though). For that, I grabbed the packaging and sources from Ubuntu 15.04 . That Ubuntu version is now pushing 5.4.x, so you may have some luck there. After downloading the required files from launchpad, I'd install the dependencies manually, based on the list in debian/control . You'll just have to cross fingers that 14.04 provides recent enough packages for Qt 5.4 .
