I have a hunch about what the problem is.
Do you have any ad or tracker blocking addons installed in your web browser? I
had a problem on qt-project.org and lots of other web sites with search
engines, because Ghostery was blocking Google AJAX Search API, which all of
those sites used. I had to enable access to that tracker in order for search
to work.
