To change this behavior for Firefox:
- go to about:config
- change the value for network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
- if necessary, change also network.http.max-connections and
  network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy

... but do not blame me for any performance penalty you might get! :-)
