I can of course do Java and C#, and even C++/CLI, but when compared to my 10+
years showing 1 yr of C# doesn't make me a "C# developer"
I can talk your ear off about the .NET garbage collector vs the Python GC, but
it is hard to have the recruiter understand and convince the client that my 1yr
is a very thorough "one year".

Mine as well. However, as a career-long C++ developer, it pains me to say that
I think the days of being able to easily find a C/C++ job that has absolutely
nothing to do with Java or .NET are gone. In fact, if you want to be employed
as quickly as possible (which it sounds like you need), I recommend you bear
down on those two technologies right now, as that's pretty much the bulk of
what's available anymore.
It also adds dimension to you as a developer to be proficient in multiple
technologies (even though you may have far less passion for them), and makes
you more attractive to potential employers.
