Slashdot is reporting that on the Qt Devel list that Nokia is shutting down Aussie operations. This is a lot of where the newer Qt modules came from (3D, multimedia, Mobility, etc) . They'll supposedly see Qt 5 out the door, but that is it. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTE1MTc
I never saw Nokia as a good thing for Qt, but they did really expand the scope of Qt. The major downside is that IMHO, Qt far exceeds competing technologies (AIR, Android, iOS) but it unlikely to thrive even though the building blocks are in place for a completely open source stack. This unfortunately is how bad management destroys superior technologies. I hope work continues, and I hope Jolla does well, but that suffers from the same problem - superior technology alone does not always win. In the meantime since Nokia picked up Qt in 2008, the landscape has changed. If you can't get your library on a phone, no one wants it. I hope Qt5 sees better mobile OS support otherwise Qt will relegated to niche areas. Being on desktops do not matter anymore, just about everything is web-based now. And there is Witty for that.
