Hello everyone,
I’m a senior CS student interested in graphics driver development, and I’d like
to learn by exploring HDR  on Intel UHD iGPUs in Linux.
>From what I studied HDR output is already supported for Intel's discrete GPUS
>but not for the integrated GPUs like UHd or Iris Xe despite supporting it on
>Windows.

I had an idea to study how HDR support is done for Arc and see if it was
possible to adapt it for integrated graphics potentially as a final capstone
project for my university.

Before starting and getting too involved:

- Is this something I should even attempt or am I thinking too big and
complicated for a capstone project?

- Where in the kernel codebase would be the best place to start understanding
how HDR metadata and color management are currently implemented?
- Are there any known blockers or past discussions about HDR on pre-Arc GPUs
(UHD, Iris Xe) that I should review?

I don’t expect to figure this all out in one night but I just wanted to get
some pointers since this is my first time developing anything major in C. The
biggest thing I developed before this was an AES cipher.

Thanks for your time, and for all the work that’s already gone into the kernel.
Also forgive me if this is the wrong place to email the team I am new to this
and to be honest I did have chatGPT teach me about getting in contact with the
devs.

Best regards,
David Holland
