Hi

I've now managed the upgrade.

Lots of svc messages on 1st reboot, only dmi wouldn't start on 2nd boot.

ncrs seems to be continuing to dwindle the hardware that it supports. There was
a time that it worked with my scanner, cd-rw, dvd-rom and hard disks. In the
past (S10), it's turned its back on the scanner and the cd-rw. The dvd-rom has
posed a problem for a while (S10) if enabled in the BIOS, but worked OK post
boot. Now I'm getting SCSI parity errors that I didn't get a couple of hours
ago. I guess nobody uses SCSI scanners or CD/DVD drives these days, and so the
driver isn't well tested, if at all.

Lastly, my desktop has a text file icon for StarOffice 8, and an empty grey
tool panel at the top of the screen. A bit of a pain. A bit OT, but is there a
way to 'restore defaults' on the desktop?

A+
Paul
