Since the Inkscape marks are registered, Inkscape has the right to use the (R) symbol instead of the TM symbol. It's not required, but it's a good idea to use the (R) symbol, as it puts others on notice that "Inkscape," the Inkscape logo, and "Draw freely" are all registered. You don't have to go overboard; you should add it to the About Inkscape graphic, for example, but you don't need to use it everywhere that you use name "Inkscape" or display the logo. The fact that Inkscape has published a trademark policy goes a long way towards putting others on notice about our rights in the marks.
