we use Perdition to enable load balancing and redundancy, and I've
noticed it has quite nice logging which you could use:

Nov 30 03:11:15 mail-proxy1 perdition[4336]: Close:
129.240.250.90->129.240.10.10 user="someone" received=174 sent=439 

parsing such logs might be easier than to patch Cyrus to do the
accounting :-)

(Perdition is very fast and nice, but we will probably switch to Cyrus
Murder to enable a single namespace for folders and other niceties.)
