Is it possible at all? sure. use perdition (http://www.vergenet.net/linux/perdition/) as a proxy in front of your cyrus box(es):
1) users log in to perdition using e-mail address and passwort
2) perdition maps the email address to the username
3) perdition logs in to cyrus with usernamen and passwort
4) perdition proxies the imap/pop3 connection to the user.
you can have perdition running on the same host as cyrus too, but you
got to move the cyrus imap/pop3 ports.
