Ok what have I done wrong? I think it may be a configuration problem but I don’t know enough about cyrus to confirm where the fault is.

OS = FreeBSD 5.2.1

Installed “/usr/ports/security/cyrus-sasl” (make install)

Installed “/usr/ports/mail/cyrus-imapd2” (make install)

Ran “/usr/local/cyrus/bin/mkimap”

Added ‘cyrus_imapd_enable="YES"’ to “/etc/rc.conf”

chmod 647 /etc/opiekeys          (To stop error messages where can not read/write opiekey)

Rebooted – All looking good

SU’d to cyrus

Ran “saslpasswd2 -c cyrus” and set password

Ran “saslpasswd2 -c jdoe” and set password

Although this appears to work ok, I notice in my error messages (saslpasswd2: Couldn’t update db)

If I run sasldblistusers2 I get…

%sasldblistusers2

[EMAIL PROTECTED]: userPassword

[EMAIL PROTECTED]: userPassword

I was under the impression I should have 2 lines for each user

If I ignore this and try to go further…

%cyradm localhost

Password:

localhost> cm user.jdoe

createmailbox: Permission denied

Error message log shows imapd[580]: no user in db

And of course if I then try to pop or imap in to the accounts I get….

* OK domain.co.uk Cyrus IMAP4 v2.1.16 server ready

+OK domain.co.uk Cyrus POP3 v2.1.16 server ready <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Which shows the servers are running.

I can Imap in to cyrus externally and if I su in to cyrus I can imtest in ok. But there are no folders or content. I can not Pop3 in to cyrus.

This is the only user that I can do this for.

I know that I’m a bit new to this, but I’m not going to let it beat me.

Any ideas?
