reject8bit problem

Hello,   I have a problem on the mail subject which contains no encoding.   in /etc/imapd.conf, I have included the line " reject8bit: no " but nothing happen. It shows me "XXXX" again.   How can I allow the 8bit charactor without encoding on the subject?   Thanks Patrick
