I've problems with cyrus imapd 2.2.10 and murder. I always get:

OPT was disabled during the sasl configuration.
Do you have an old OTP plugin installed?
I try to run mupdate_config:unified that I can use frontend and backend on the same machine.
The unified Murder code is only available in Cyrus 2.3, which you'd have to pull from a separate branch in CVS.
