Use lsof.
Maybe my question wasnt clear enough. When fuser somefile shows ~20
processess, how do I figure out which one is the first that caused all
others to block? Or first two that are fighting for a lock?
Sure. lsof /path/to/filename
will give you what you want.
This problem has been around for awhile (including 2.1). I run into this
issue when mua (ms outlook and pine) saves outgoing messages to another
imap folder. I took a brief look at the code, but nothing jumps out.
There is an issue somewhere.
I found it strange that it happened with mailboxes that were very near
eachother namespace-wise. And that I've never seen it before ...
