Nevermind.
Seems to have been some terminal setting/termcap issue. I logged all the way out, closed the SSH client and when all the way back in and the message is gone now. What was weird was it happened on two different SSH sessions at the same time.

It occurs whether or not I provide a valid password. I doesn't happen if I don't connect to the server (e.g. just type cyradm). It doesn't appear to affect the operation of cyradm. I tracked it down to what seems like the line
my $rc = $self->{cyrus}->authenticate(@_);
in Cyrus::IMAP::Admin module. Anyone see this before?
