Dont seem to have that particular file. Did a find for it and it's not anywhere on my system.
A different file perhaps?
And
# file /path/to/sasldb2

Wait a minute. So your sasldb2 has a berkeley format, but your getting an error from the ndbm backend? What did your configure line for SASL look like?
