When you run automake run automake-1.5 and to run autoconf run autoconf253 these are provided on RH 7.3 as automake15 and autoconf253.. hopefully those are *new* enough. But probably not.. Someone probably needs to provide some newer releases for RH 7.3. Another solution is to modify the patches that you apply that modify the configure.in to only modify the configure script.. That way you don't need to run automake/autoconf..
