Reconstructing mailboxes

Hi All

I'm  new in Cyrus admin.

I'm in doubt about reconstruct mailboxes. My doubt is: when I use the command reconstruct the Cyrus-imap must be stopped?
If I use this command, the changes take effect only when I restart  Cyrus-Imap.
