To be clear about this, you did create an account within Cyrus's db using
cyradm, not just a system account correct?

I'm afraid i didn't get cyradm working until now. cyradm --user cyrus localhost prompts me for a password, and when i enter that, cyradm will quit with a "Speicherzugriffsfehler" (memory access error).
cyradm (without options) gives me a cyradm> console, but when i say connect localhost it will prompt me for a password and again report this speicherzugriffsfehler and quit the program.

Google finds http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux/2002-Oct/4657.html for "Speicherzugriffsfehler cyradm" which tells me to use cyradm --user cyrus --auth login localhost. Although this didn't work before, it now obviously does with sasl running, so i can run cyradm now.

The first thing i did was to create a mailbox for a user (createmailbox user.jochen), set user rights (setaclmailbox user.jochen anyone lr) and then try to connect to it (both with cyradm and imtest). Because cyradm did not seem to provide user management functions ("managing imap", pg.157), i rely on the saslpasswd i provided. Anyway, i'll now (still) get authentication errors when i use imtest to log in as the user i created the mailbox for (and who has an entry in sasldb).

bye&thanks
