I'm running 2.1.4 on Solaris with SASL 2.1.3-BETA and have a question that I
haven't been able to find in the documentation or the archives. I'm new to
both, so please bear with me.

I'm using auxprop as the pwcheck_method. We would like to be able to switch
our Cyrus service between two hosts in a cluster. But when I create a user
with saslpasswd2 -c it creates the user with a domain of the local hostname.
Won't this prevent authentication from working when Cyrus is running on the
other node?

I see that I can create users with the -u DOMAIN flag so I could use a fixed
domain, but can't figure out how to get imapd to use that domain to
authenticate against. I've tried the loginrealms: parameter in imapd.conf but
haven't gotten it to work so far. Suggestions?

And I'm confused by the terminology here. What's the difference between a
domain and a realm?

Am I making this harder than it needs to be?

Steve
