Well, it causes trouble when importing the tarball (as 'upstream sources')
to another CVS repository (such as the one I use for the Debian packages).
But since you just gave me a good reason for those CVS dirs in the tarball,
I don't think you should remove them just because of my request.

I will repack the tarball without the CVS directories (and no other changes)
for the Debian "original source" tarball, then. That will keep things smooth
on my end.
