Try www.squirrelmail.org It's great! Loads of extra plugin options, based around PHP scripts. It's ded easy to modify to your needs and is 'community' orientated.
My reason for picking a webmail was... what do I want my webmail package to do? Do you require spell checking? POP3 access? Filters? Spam filters?
