The kernel part sounds suspicious to me. No matter how "stable" the
even number series are supposed to be, 2.4.x kernels have been
a disappointment after another. They mostly work, but I wouldn't
try them on production servers just yet. At least wait for 2.4.17
(see <http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.4/testing/patch-2.4.17.log>
for which fixes you're missing) and then a little more to avoid
2.4.11 and 2.4.15 -like disasters...
