I'm in the process of packaging up the imap server as part of the SGI
Freeware project (http://freeware.sgi.com/)

I have an alpha version available if anyone would like to test it out. This
follows Freeware project guidelines (-n32, mips3, Irix 6.5 only).

I've been running a pre-alpha version for a few weeks now and it works
perfectly. This alpha version can be downloaded from
http://reality.sgi.com/offer/dist/test/ (please see the README). Note that
reality will be shut down on Aug 15 2001, by then this should be available
at both the offical freeware site and possibly on CD.

Changes to "normal" cyrus installation.

 1) All binaries live under /usr/freeware --- this is a SGI Freeware
project requirement.
      /usr/freeware/bin for end-user tools (sieveshell),
      /usr/freeware/cyrus/bin for cyrus tools (deliver).
      /usr/freeware/sbin for admin tools (cyradm)

 2) /etc/sendmail.mc is not modified, but a patch that I use is included in
/usr/freeware/cyrus/etc.

 3) The perl modules use the system perl (/usr/bin/perl5), I haven't tested
these much (at all).

 4) I've used chkconfig to control whether the daemon is started.

To install this you will already need the fw_openssl as I built it with ssl
support (connecting via ssl is so far untested by me). If you don't already
have this, it should be available from http://freeware.sgi.com/.

I'm most interested in feedback regarding installation locations, can you
find all the configuration files that are needed ? How long did it take to
get up an running. Any sendmail.mc changes that work better with your
config ?

Comments can be sent to me direct or to the freeware project in general at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks.

richard.
