I'm glad you have the courage to read a sendmail config file.

The syslog messages stopped coming with this sendmail configuration.
It is working fine now using lmtp as the postman. It is true I have been
changing things so fast that it is difficult to remember what happened with
various configurations. I get absolutely no error messages now. The lmtp
socket looks like this:
srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 May 31 16:12 /var/imap/socket/lmtp

So I guess lmtp is still running as root. I think things would have worked
better if I had just stuck with cyrus:mail as user. I am not sure the
"U=imap:imap" is necessary, but I had problems the first time I tried
cyrusv2.mc. Also I wonder whether it really needs this kind of blanket
permissions.

I just rebooted to start everything fresh. I am sure it would have worked if I
had just restarted sendmail and maybe master too.

I really want to thank you and all the people on this list for the help I
received. At one point I wasn't sure if I would ever get this thing working.

Many thanks,

Tom
