did this server (cyrus) came preinstalled on the box or did you install
it.
If you did, then did you give the right permissions to the spool area?

the /var/spool/imap and  /var/imap should belong to user cyrus.(or
whoever the server is run as)

do a chown cyrus -R /var/spool/imap  /var/imap
and try again
