Dear list,

I'm not sure whether this is a LDAP config issue og a cyrus issue, threfore
I post the question here as well as on the comp.mail.imap news group. My
problem is that I cannot get users authenticated to cyrus so I can start
adding mailboxes.

I'm using Openldap 2.0.7 compiled from source and Cyrus 2.0.9 installed from
the beta rpm form RH71.

usr/bin/cyrus is running, but when I try to login with cyradm to install som
mailboxes, I get nothing.
that is everything hangs. The same happens when i try telnet localhost imap
I get:
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to mailserver.
Escape character is '^]'.

then nothing.

Can anyone give me a hint to what to do? THe imapd.conf tile is set to auth
through pam and the imap pam file is from the ldap_pam module from padl. I
have no problem using this for other servicews like su, sshd and login, but
for imap it does not work.

Is it possible to link cyrus directly to ldap w/o going through pam? Is that
the soloution?

Also, I get a compile errot if I try to compile cyrus-sasl :
*** Warning: This library needs some functionality provided by -ldes.
*** I have the capability to make that library automatically link in when
*** you link to this library. But I can only do this if you have a
*** shared version of the library, which you do not appear to have.
*** The inter-library dependencies that have been dropped here will be
*** automatically added whenever a program is linked with this library
*** or is declared to -dlopen it.
Could this be the problem, if so, what should I do?

I'm greafull for all imput that helps me solve this problem.

Tarjei
