If I start the IMAP- Server in the start- skript via  "startproc
/usr/cyrus/bin/master" I have the same problems. If I start the server
with "startproc -u root /usr/cyrus/bin/master" it works fine.

The difference is, that the start-/ stop- skripts run with the uid root,
but not with all the gids the user root belongs to. With the option "-u
root" the master- process will be startet with all gids the user root
belongs to.

The question is now: Why are the gids important ?
