Why does Cyrus 2.x need Berkeley DB 3?

Just like the subject says.  Why wasn't Cyrus built able to use the 
DB 2.x libraries?  It seems like a lot of hassel for support.....

(This is stemming now that exim is seg faulting when trying to deliver
as it needs acces to the DB Files.  Except it claims it's using the 2.2.14
libs...) :(
